At my baby shower back in January, my cousin gave me a beautiful spiral bound Baby Book which, until recently, I had not been exactly sure how to use. I tend to create my photo albums online using Blurb so I knew I wouldn’t use it for photographs and his new baby cards seemed a bit bulky to put inside. Fortunately, when he was 11 weeks old I realised the perfect solution! I love to journal but have managed to write in my journal about twice since Jacob arrived. So instead of lengthy breakdowns of how we spend each day I have decided to use the Baby Book as a one line journal.
Just one line each day, to records special bits and pieces from Jacob’s little life. He learned how to roll over from his back to his front this past weekend, so that went in the book (I also posted a little video on my Instagram!). On Friday we bought his outfit for Danny’s brother’s wedding in August which he looks ever so smart in and I wanted to remember that. Even if we just have a simple day at home or in the garden there is usually a special moment which is worth recording. I have realised that by focusing on the positives and the good things each day the whole experience of parenting is just a little more precious and joy-filled. And how fun it will be to look back on in years to come!
